Technical expert answers Humboldt Superfund questions
A technical expert will talk to Dewey-Humboldt residents about the Iron King Mine and Humboldt Smelter Superfund site Friday.
The free meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Dewey-Humboldt Town Hall, 2735 S. Highway 69.
The Community Coalition of Dewey-Humboldt received a $50,000 grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to hire independent technical advisor Wayne Fuller of Ninyo and Moore Geotechnical and Environmental Sciences Consultants. The company has an office in Prescott Valley and other sites throughout the Southwest.
Fuller is experienced in mining contamination issues such as lead and arsenic, and he has read numerous documents related to the Superfund site, so he can help the general public understand the technical elements.
Residents can ask questions and voice their concerns about air, soil and other Superfund site issues that could impact their health.
People can submit questions in advance by sending an email to dhsmelter@gmail.com so that Fuller has more time to research them.
