Volunteer Outside Positions

MONIITORIING CREWS • Responsibilities: Monitoring Watson Woods Riparian Preserve through photography and surveys of habitat geomorphology, plants, herps and birds. • Skills Needed: Interest in doing detailed research & detail oriented. • Time Commitment: Time commitment varies. Anticipated projects to begin Fall 2007/ Winter 2008 and beyond. • Compensation: Volunteer with the possibility of leading to a work-study position if funding is secured. Fill out a volunteer application (PDF) RESTORATIION CREWS Responsibilities: Harvesting, planting, irrigation, weed eradication and monitoring of ongoing projects at Watson Woods Riparian Preserve. • Skills Needed: A willingness to get dirty. Comfortable working outdoors in different kinds of weather. • Time Commitment: Time commitment varies. Anticipated projects to begin Fall 2007/ Winter 2008 and beyond. • Compensation: Ongoing volunteer. Fill out a volunteer application (PDF) RESTORATIION ASSISTANT • Responsibilities: Possible field tasks as they develop at Watson Woods Riparian Preserve such as harvesting, planting, helping to check irrigation systems weekly, weed eradications projects. Also works with staff in general restoration tasks. • Skills Desired: Friendly, willing to learn new things, likes dogs, likes to get dirty, comfortable working outdoors in different kinds of weather. Access to reliable transportation • Time Commitment: Dependent on project; up to approximately 12 hours per week over two days. • Compensation: Volunteer ongoing. Fill out a volunteer application (PDF) WATER QUALIITY CREWS • Responsibilities: Monitoring water quality particularly chemical, bacteriological and macroinvertebrates. • Skills Needed: A willingness to get wet and commit to participate in a training program. • Time Commitment: Time commitment varies: for wells weekly, for creeks dependent on seasonal flows. • Compensation: Ongoing volunteer.
